His cup runneth over! EJ wins the 2017 PBA XF points competition

Genesis® staff members bring home the XF Cup in back-to-back years!

For the second straight year, a G-Force™ staff member came out on top in the PBA XF points competition, this year dubbed the XF Storm Cup. For 2017, it was the reigning PBA Player of the Year, EJ Tackett, who collected the $20,000 bonus. Though he didn't win any of the 7 events, he was steadily at the top, turning in two 2nd place finishes (PBA XF Lubbock Sports Open and PBA XF Gene Carter’s Pro Shop Classic) and leading in points for most of the duration.

In the final tournament, four players entered still with a mathematical chance to claim the top prize, including Genesis® staffer Dick Allen and K-Motion™ user Dom Barrett. But with the scores low, only EJ advanced to the cashers round, securing the win with much less drama than the previous year. In 2016 EJ was again the leader going in to the final event, but a late run by G-Force™ member Tommy Jones to make the stepladder finals catapulted him to the Cup win instead of EJ.

In total, Genesis® had 3 of the top 5 points winners collecting checks, with EJ in 1st, Sean Rash tied for 3rd and Dick Allen in 5th. Other notable G-Force™ staff finishes include Josh Blanchard (9th), Ryan Ciminelli (10th) and Tommy Jones (12th).

G-Force™ staff finish 1-2 for second straight week

For the second straight week it was an all Genesis® final as Sean Rash made his championship round G-Force™ debut with a 257-223 victory over reigning Player of the Year EJ Tackett. It all went down in the PBA Xtra Frame Gene Carter’s Pro Shop Classic at Mid-County Bowling and Entertainment Center in Wilmington, DE. For Sean, it was the 12th time he's been in the PBA Tour winners circle, but his first since joining the Genesis® staff just this summer, and first of the 2017 season.

With the win, Rash collected $15,000 and 25 pts in the XF Storm Cup race, moving him up to 5th place overall with one event to go. Tackett is the current leader heading into the final event, finding himself in familiar territory. He led last year at this point before being aced out by yet another Genesis® staffer, Tommy Jones, when TJ made the stepladder in that last event to put him over the top.

Genesis® products used by Sean Rash and EJ Tackett during the event included K-Motion™ and our Pure Pad™. Other notable G-Force™ staff finishes were Tommy Jones (10th) and Dick Allen (12th).

Dick Allen is once again a PBA Tour Champion, ending a 6 year title drought

It's an all Genesis® final as our G-Force™ staff members finish 1-2

It was an all Genesis® / Motiv final, as Dick Allen ended a 6 year title drought by defeating fellow G-Force™ staff member Ryan Ciminelli by a score of 205-176 in the 2017 PBA Xtra Frame Chesapeake Open at AMF Western Branch Lanes. Allen was making his 2nd championship round appearance of the season after a strong showing as usual in the PBA league competition.

“I’ve been close a couple of times,” Allen said, “but after coming so close (a third-place finish in the (Mark Roth-Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship) with Zeke (Bayt) made me want to really focus on my game, so I’ve been working at it. These young kids out here now are so good, you really have to work at it if you want to win again. And I love to bowl, and I wanted to win again.”

For both Allen and Ciminelli, it was an odd coincidence that they met each other for their next shot at a title. Just this past June at Bowl Expo, they were our Genesis® PBA Star booth mates signing autographs for all who stopped by in Nashville, TN.

Genesis® products used by Dick Allen and Ryan Ciminelli during the event included K-Motion™ and our Pure Pad™. Other notable G-Force™ staff finishes were EJ Tackett (10th) and Josh Blanchard (14th).

PBA legend makes his Genesis® TV debut during Super Bowl event

PBA Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III made his Genesis® G-Force™ TV debut during Super Bowl weekend, and what a debut it was. Teaming with actor Quinton Aaron of "The Blind Side" fame, the duo easily blew through the stepladder finals of the first annual Main Event PBA Super Clash, beating Jason Belmonte and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson for the trophy, 204-118. Parker himself did much of the damage, striking on 15 of his first 17 balls, but Quinton proved to be no slouch, converting many key spares of which his celebrity contemporaries couldn't match.

Another notable highlight of the show was our own EJ Tackett being announced as the 2016 PBA Player of the Year, with the Rookie of the Year honor going to Francois Lavoie, fresh of off his K-Motion assisted win in the PBA Shark Championship. Other noted K-Motion users, Tom Smallwood and Rhino Page, won the Steve Nagy Sportsmanship Award and Tony Reyes Community Service Award, respectively. Concluding the event was a special 4 frame doubles event featuring Tackett and Belmonte being paired with Teen Masters participants.
